Pain of losing one’s leg is more severe than losing the upper body limb (hand) because it restricts the movement of a person and confines him/her to particular place. The agony and the resulting frustration of not moving around at freewill and remaining captive inside a defined boundary make it a depressing situation for any individual. And that’s the reason why people who lose their lower limbs suffer from depression and other psychological issues and are more prone to self-inflicting injuries which at times reach up to quite extreme levels that some people even contemplate suicide.
